Grietje Groot

Grietje was born on April 24th, 1782 in Oost-Knollendam (NL) and her baptism took place there on October 31st, 1782.¹ Grietje's father was Jacob Aldertsz. Groot and her mother was Grietje Jacobs Smit. Her paternal grandparents were Aldert Jacobse Groot and Trijntje Jacobs (Laan); her maternal grandparents were Jacob Dirks Smit and Aafje Jacobs. She had two sisters named Trijntje and Trijntje Jacobs. She was the second oldest of the three children. She had six half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Auke, Aldert, Harmen, Aldert, Jacob, Cornelis, Sijtje and Zijtje.
