Jan was born in 1663 in Oostzaan (NL) and his baptism took place there on December 23rd, 1663.1   Jan's father was Pieter Jansz. de Boer and his mother was Trijn Jans.  His paternal grandparents were Jan de Boer and NN.  He had a brother and four sisters, named Lucas, Lijsje, Maritje, Neeltje and Lopje.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
