Günther was born on July 13th, 1914 in Freiburg in Schlesien (DE) sinds 1945 Swiebodzice (PL).  Günther's father was Oskar Arthur Hermann Balder and his mother was Else Marie Wilhelmine (Else) Winkler.  His paternal grandparents were Alois Balder and Julie Louise Augusta (Luise) Pastrill; his maternal grandparents were Louis Oscar August (Louis) Winkler and Hermine Mathilde Anna (Mathilde) Syring.  He had a brother and four sisters, named Hans, Gretel, Annelie, Lotte and Gerda Mathilde Louise.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died  due to 'granaatsplinter in het hoofd' at the age of 27 on December 17th, 1941 in Tenistoye, Krim (UA).  His burial was in Kalantay, Krim (UA).1 1
