Pietje was born on July 23rd, 1813 in Schoonrewoerd (NL).  Pietje's father was Coenraad of Koenraad Schenk and her mother was Helena (Lena) van Rijswijk.  She had a brother and three sisters, named Adam Dirk, Johanna, Lena and Adriana.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Adrianus Frederik, Johan Coenraad, Willem Dirk, Willemijntje and Sanna.
